What is the Zero Olympiad?

Our students rarely encounter topics like Global Policies, World Affairs, Regional Alliances, Humanitarian Interventions, or Diplomatic Relations within their academic curriculum throughout their long educational journey. As a result, they often miss the opportunity to evolve into true Global Citizens or International Personalities.

If you search online for what world leaders will be focused on over the next four years, one central theme emerges: the SDGs- —the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals. These goals are set to conclude by 2030, much like the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) expired to 2015.

To achieve these 17 SDGs, we must eliminate the negative factors associated with them. With this in mind, I have rebranded each SDG using the concept of “Zero-“ —for instance, Zero Poverty or Zero Hunger.

This is exactly why this competition is named the Zero Olympiad. Through this platform, our students will gain a deep understanding of the SDGs, enabling them to secure their place on the global stage. In short, the objective of the Zero Olympiad is to cultivate true Global Leaders from Bangladesh.

Click the button below to learn how Zero Olympiad will develop students into Global Citizens and Future Leaders through various programs in 2026, as well as to explore the Zero Olympiad Competition.

Why should you participate?

Participants who register for the Zero Olympiad will receive, immediately after registration, an email containing access links to United Nations–recognized courses offered by the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) and the UN Climate Change Learning Partnership (UN CC:e-Learn).

The courses offered in the first season of Zero Olympiad will be different from those provided this year.

Faatiha Aayat completed one of these courses in 2023, which significantly helped her gain opportunities to speak on various issues at the United Nations.

Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive an official certificate from the United Nations.

This certificate will serve as a strong Extra-Curricular Activity (ECA) and will play a vital role in future higher education applications and professional careers. Including this course completion and showcasing the certificate in one’s professional biodata, CV, résumé, profile, or portfolio will undoubtedly provide a significant competitive advantage.

In addition, all Zero Olympiad participants will receive the following opportunities and benefits:

  1. Seventeen (17) winners of the Zero Olympiad will be awarded the opportunity to participate in an International Bootcamp hosted by Asia Pacific University (APU), Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
  2. Scholarship opportunities from Washington University of Science and Technology, USA.
  3. International Bootcamp participation at Asia Pacific University (APU), Malaysia.
  4. Language Learning Scholarship from Sanrin Nihongono Gakkou, Japan.
  5. Youth Peace Fellow Award from the Australian Institute of Peace & Dialogue.
  6. Comprehensive support and guidance in applying for SDG Fellowships during admission processes at overseas universities.
  7. Recommendations and nomination support to participate in the SDG Summit, held annually at the United Nations.
  8. Year-long engagement opportunities through Zero Olympiad Clubs established across educational institutions nationwide—featuring case study competitions, debates, public speaking sessions, workshops, seminars, and funding support for implementing innovative projects. Selected participants will be inducted as Zero Olympiad National Envoys.
